About the scheme

Erosion protection and river embankment reconstruction works are planned for Sculpins Bridge, which carries vehicles on Daw Street over the River Pant in Braintree district.

In order support the works, which will involve the use of heavy machinery and equipment that will be manoeuvred on the highway, a full time road closure will be needed at the bridge.  This will ensure the protection of the workforce and the public for the duration of the works.

The works

Works are due to begin on Monday 10 June 2019 when a road closure will be implemented.

Advance warning notices will be put on site, with an appropriate diversion in place during the road closure.

Under the current work programme, we anticipate the works will be complete by Friday 26 July 2019 when the road closure will be lifted.

What is involved and how it may affect you

The road closure will apply to all vehicles (24 hours a day) for the duration of the works, with vehicles directed via Daw Street, Wethersfield Road, Lombard Street, Petches Bridge, Willows Road, Cross Hill and vice versa.

Properties will be accessible from either side of the bridge via the diversion until the road closure is lifted.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
