2 July 2020 Press Release

Initially there will run to a reduced timetable, and services will only be provided from the Sandon P&R site in Chelmsford, and the Colchester P&R Site at the Junction 28 of the A12. The two sites will provide services between 7am-7pm Monday to Saturday, but passengers are advised to check the website or Social Media before travelling for any updates or changes, which could occur due to essential operation reasons.

30 June 2020 Press Release

A section of Brentwood High St will be closed to vehicles, except buses and cycles, for an interim period beginning on 4th July, to enable safer social distancing in the town centre. Essex County Council and Brentwood Borough Council have worked together after retailers suggested an interim closure to private vehicles, with just buses and cycling allowed, would bring a much-needed boost to the shops now they are free to reopen. The changes are paid for by Government as part of national work to re-open town centres safely.

Epping High Street and a section of Station Road will be given a 20mph speed limit and parking bays will be altered to become pedestrian areas, for a period to enable safer social distancing in the town centre.

25 June 2020 Press Release

Some new interim, signed 20mph speed limits on roads in busy shopping areas of Saffron Walden are being put in place starting from Friday 26 June on main routes around the town centre, including High Street and George Street / Hill Street. These will be in addition to road closures implemented by the Town Council on the 15th June.

Essex County Council and Braintree District Council have worked together to plan the installation of several social distancing signs while High St and nearby improvement works are carried out by Braintree Council.  Barriers such as have been used in other town centres in Essex are not appropriate in Braintree due to the continuing pedestrianisation improvement works. The measures are paid for by Government as part of national work to re-open town centres safely.

Excellent progress has been made on A133 Colchester works during these unprecedented times.

Ipswich Road (south) was opened early as piling works were completed ahead of schedule. Harwich Rd (south) is currently closed until the 29th June to allow key construction works to be completed.
